Screenreader mode is already complete, and the insane loading times should be gone soon.

And there is a web version under https://web.klango.online and (currently only in german) telefon chat 056147395825

Now think about where the license is and what it said. I’m guessing it included a ban on copying, recompiling, decompiling, reverse engineering, and all that nonsense.
-- (rudolf):
It should be a legal gray area as, as far as I can tell, the server is completely new and the client was reverse enginered.
-- (zywek):
I guess they'll have to take all of you to court so you'll finally stop stealing all the source code and making your own clones.

So I’d like to say a few things about this:
First of all, I can understand that many people really liked Klango and are happy that the platform is back. However, I wonder what the legal situation is here. Sure, as a private project, all of this might have been acceptable somehow, but now that it’s public? You should take a closer look at what Simplito stated in its license. Even if you’ve rewritten large parts of the project, you should definitely find out whether you’re even allowed to revive the project in this form without further ado. I’m only mentioning this in this case because I know how difficult Simplito has always been when it comes to inquiries about Klango.

@ 13 sound positioning like that is nothing new. It was in the original Klango too. The new thing is that ESpeak is shipped with it, and also IBM ViaVoice, in addition to sapi5 which was always there. I also don't like how the synthesizer dialogue buffers on Windows. You will need to wait at least 30 seconds, maybe even 2 minutes or so. Windows seems to complicate things a lot.

#25

Oh yes it does, but new klango version gets released in few minutes which fixes the voice settings dialog buffering and adds an experimental screenreader mode.

I heard in their last blog post they said people can bring Claungo back if they wish.

I tried the client, and it is good but... it isn't engaging me.

Elten seems better as it has conferences and audio calls, but I still love the memories and looking at posts at 2018 and before as I was 15 years old at that time and didn't know of that program.

Awesome! Looking forward to it.

quote from the announcement post. In oreginal klango3.5.4b6 was already mend to include the official conferences feature, but i needed to patch some things first. So that's for the next version.

Hello. That was a tough day. Basically overnight, klango went completely viral. I thank you all for giving this a chance and since this community now grows again i will soon start a moderator application. But this post is about the klango3.5.4b6 and framework 0.6 release. Here what was done in quick.- general bug fixes. The speech settings dialog under windows should no longer buffer. Also, the bug with free spotify accounts is fixed now. - experimental screenreader mode. I've been hearing your wishes regarding screenreader support, so i decided to release the experimental screenreader mode earlier then i aimed too.Remember. Klango in it's oreginal form was never mend to run with screenreaders. So the screenreader mode currently only runs on windows and is pretty experimental. Expect some glitches and feel free to leave feedback.- atachment support. You can send atachments up to 30mb now (for mails 15mb) and also view them officially.Again thanks for beeing here with us and... Enjoy the ride.

Yes, Klango is already a hundred times better than Elten, mostly due to the people who are on there versus here. Just look at Arctic's post and you'll catch my drift. I can't stand this negativity. Get a life girl.
Sure it's clunky right now, and it's obviously in the early stages of development, but let's not forget that Simter did not make this thing public. He did not expect it to blow up in this way so early. I do agree that it should be renamed for safety reasons though.
When you're stuck, just try harder.

Ok bro, if you're the dev of the new Klango, then are you trying to be a mod here and admin there or what?
Senter San

based on his posts he's the admin apparently.

I have a few questions:
First and most importantly, on what legal basis are you processing users' existing posts in threads that are not archival?
Second, have you received permission from the creators of Klango to use their source code and continue developing it in the long term?
Third, is reposting users' posts as open, active threads under their usernames compliant with the GDPR in Germany, since that is most likely where the server is hosted?
Last: From what can be determined, the client's source code appears to have been stolen. It is not your code. The law prohibits unauthorized cloning.

How to use this screen reader mode?
Vox tech, trust us.

Yes Dash, good questions. Although the Klango archive was here on elten as well, and no one brought up the legal point up at any time.
But I think its important to get a clarification about your second point here. I think this project is still very interesting. Someone in this toppic was talking about a block post from Simplito clayming that they would be fine with someone bringing klango back. Where did you see this? I have never seen a post like this from the devs and it would just be very interesting to read it.

As requested, copying that post from Klango

The following post was copied directly from the Klango website. You can find the post at http://klango.net/theend.html

We inform, that on May 24th 2018 at 12.00 CET Klango servers will be turned off. All user accounts along with all related data will be permanently deleted. The source code of the Klango software will be archived.

If you are a Klango user, then by May 24th you can download a zip file containing your data. To do this, log in to klango.net website, go to Settings and you will find a link to download your archive at the bottom of the page. The data of the media catalog will be kept separate and will probably be made available for download at a later date.

The decision to close Klango was for us the most difficult decision we had to face - as a team of programmers and as people who devoted many years of their life to this project. Thank you for the great joint adventure in the world of audio applications and games.

Could this adventure be better? Should someone take care of the creation of a new generation Klango? We are closing this chapter, but some of you are definitely thinking about something better. Be creative, make it happen.

Best regards,

Klango Team

Ok, to be fair, that's not exactly them saying go ahead and revive Klango as is. It just says be inspired, so essentially what Elten is I think.

#40

yeah basically that ment that someone could recreate something different. I'm guessing that's how elten came? it wasn't a direct coppy but still.
