Commentary On Moderation Application
Back to Administrative Announcements & Discussion/Feedback#21 Jonathan
Regarding the application from Dennis Helbig, I'd just like to mention that there has been very few moderation activity in the german community, one of them being deleting some of my posts due to "personality rights", sorry for the probably not completely accurate translation as the post was in german. And also writing Moderation logs like "topic X has been closed due to the constant quarrelling", also roughly translated. This was in 2023, so yes, times have changed a ton since then, I mean we all have changed a lot, and in the end it's totally on Staff to decide, but I thought I'd just bring it up for the record, since no idea if you were actually gonna go in that forum yourself checking that out.

This doesn't mean I don't like the application, it's well written, though of course anyone can say anything. But good luck to the recent applicants for sure.

Hello there, and a huge thanks to Sir Charlie for considering.
Yeah, if I were you, I wouldn’t decide anything before sorting out the big mess either.
To @Jonathan — well, yeah, you brought this up, so I’ll respond to your argument as well.
The main problem back then was the failure of the admin team to communicate properly. To be honest, decisions were made rather hastily because of several posts and people that needed to be dealt with.
In the meantime, we received some really ridiculous personal attacks from several community members — Jonathan not included; I think he behaved quite decently — but there were definitely attempts to bully us and even provoke a serious social breakdown of one of our admin team members.
I’m not bringing this up to start new drama, just to explain myself.
And yes, we could have done better — but I think, given the circumstances, we did as well as we could in those difficult times.

Right so, where is your poll now?
#25 Jonathan
Ok, it's 7th march, Jaydon was online today but still there's not any statement on the poll or new moderation applications existing. I mean bro, no judge, I get if you don't have time a few days but it's been a week. What did you expect? People kept asking for you to review the applications with no very clear response, what can we expect on this matter now?

I'm so sorry guys. I've been away all week. I asked Sentinel to make a statement on my behalf since my Elten was broken and where I was, I couldn't reinstall it, but nevertheless. I'll run the poll tomorrow some time during the day. I can't give a definitive time but it will be ran tomorrow.
I have less and less time for this place, and it's clear that I can't run it on my own, and I think the break down in communication here proves it. I once again apologise to you all for this.

I still remmber how badly he wanted to run this place lol

And? I still think there would be noone better right now. I still remember how bad you ran this place lol.

@27, whose running this place now?
#30 ArcticMoon
Except for the fact I've never wanted to run it.

Well then you shouldn't have done it, and you can always say that afterwards. Doesn't save your reputation. Whatever, I'm not interested in continuing this childish discussion with you anymore.

Ok now @arktik this is ridiculous. There was nothing at all wrong about this post of jaidon. And the time period you are refering too is almost 3 years ago by now.
Regarding jaidon: Thumps up to your post. Admitted it was a little late, but that sounds fully reasonable and i am excited for the poll tomorrow. What i didn't fully yet understand though, are we looking for moderators to replace the old ones or to support them? It's not only you that is barely active here.
#33 Sir-Charlie
I don't even understand what te problem is? I had a lot of free time then, I don't now because life moves on. If I still had free time you'd be making fun of me saying that I don't do anything with my life, and now tht I have more things going on, it's a problem.
#34 Jonathan
Tomorrow the poll will end. I hope yall have already voted, as we know voting to shape the future for this group is very important.
Make Elten Englisch Community great again :p
Seriously though bro is hanging out on SBYW half day but it's so hard to make a poll? I kinda don't get the issue right now but ok.
#35 kezz
how many applications have they been recently though? Like, I know there are like 2 or 3 but they're from users that aren't as active to my knowledge.
#36 Jonathan
I mean check the thread I guess? Well if that is so or they're not happy with the current applications it might not be so smart to set these kind of timeframes which aren't actually relevant apparently. Just say there wheren't enough applications no poll for now. But how long will people have time to vote now? Under a day, should the poll actually appear? Will we just move the date again like Ivan with GameDeck and then remove dates alltogether? Transparency is the key imo.

He already admited his mistake. Do you want him to beg in front of you and bed for an appology? There just are times when your personal life comes first or you are so tired that you completely forget about your duties. Apart of that, how exactly do you come to the conclusion that having a game opened and idling (or even typing a few chat messages) come to the same value in effort as creating a poll, writing a longer clarification post or canceling it properly? I don't understand all the backlash here, y'all wanted Alex and Jakob out which was completely valid, but what or why is this now? There were cases when much more urgent issues weren't adressed within months. Just drop the sarcasm already, canidate as mod yourself if you think you can do better, because that is literally what he asked for.
#38 daszekmdn
The problem is that the administrator exists. For many people there will always be a problem, no matter who is moderating, as long as they have something pointless to nitpick about. That’s why I gave up on moderating. You won’t get any gratitude from them, only constant complaining.

I could, but I just don't want to. I'm here just to laugh at all this shit.

Honestly I'd rather waste my time on creating polls here than spending it on sbyw chat, with a comunity that hates the fuck out of some people, just saying. Jonathan is right, honestly. That's no lashing out, though admitedly, some of you are more softer than others, and that's ok. For a fact though, he said he'd already get to it. He could've just said there's not gonna be a poll given on the reactions or whatever, nevermind. And all'd be fine. I have other things to think about but just saying Jonathan got a good point.
