I would recommend using google for this, as there are many different sites that teach you this in different ways each.

My friend made me to start learning French on a basic level (she's a teacher so she knows what she's doing)
Alterego Livre Eleve is the book we're using, however its not good for self-learning, everything there is in French. Yet since France is France, they have a lot of so called easy readers that you can basically pick up after a few days of learning (my case)
