Hello everyone and this is Daniel from The Greetings. It's been a while since I've been on the voice forums. Got a thought for you. So there are these little USB devices called SDRs. Software Defined Radios. Basically what they allow you to do, you can put in an antenna and listen to FM radio stations, air traffic control, ham radio, AM radio. And you can even listen to like the scanner, you know those weather radio scanner things and even the blaze frequencies in Morse code. So and the sound comes from your computer sound card. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for watching.

This sounds very interesting. Is it also possible to make it serve as an FM transmitter? So you can transmit stuff through the FM. So you can have basically your own radio station. Because that would be pretty cool technology. Not that I'm going to do that because it's illegal to have your own radio station on the FM, I think. Yes, but it's pretty cool. So yeah, how does this work? Do you need any software for this or is it just like a USB drive? But then it has some buttons on it which allow you to choose the frequency. Because it's software based, then it is possible to read which frequency you're on with your screen reader and that's very cool.

And that, is why you shouldn't do this.

Well, I don't think so. However, there are these online SDR receivers where someone has put up their SDR online and you can tune them. You can enter the frequency, you can listen to different things, and yeah. But if you really want to get started, you can get SDR Sharp. And if you want a link to SDR Sharp, I can give it to you on Dropbox if you want. So you can ask for that if you wish. And you also need one of those special dongles. And there are these RTL SDR, which actually the chip of these RTL SDR dongles were made by Realtek. So, yeah. The RTL chip from Realtek. If you guys have any questions about SDRs in general, feel free to ask me or on this post.

Can someone here tell me how to use WebSDR.org because I don't really know how to tune it. So thanks Ennis fans.

And that, is why you shouldn't do this.

Oh, I didn't hear about that app. Can you at once show how does it work? Because I'm curious. I like testing some programs, some radios.

uh i know this post is kind of old probably from like 2017 2018 but i wanted to put my two cents in here uh i have never tried out an sdr for people who still don't know that's called software defined radio i haven't tried that out and uh i want to but i don't know where to get those usb antenna things i would look for them on ebay but yeah but the only issue with with anyways the only issue is that i don't know where to get an accessible app for software defined radio because if i had an accessible app i could retire my physical police scanner and then record transmissions off a gold wave and then post them into a blog i i'm part of basically but yeah what do you what do you guys think

Well, for what I know, I think I got mine from Amazon, and I think the only accessible one that I know of is HD-SDR. And I'm not too certain how to get that working with the dongle. I've done it before, but I forgot how to do it because I haven't done it in such a long time.

I don't know how to get mine working, and I want to. I need some tips.

Trussville roll: Deep-fried, smoked salmon, crab salad, cream cheese, topped with mango sauce, sweet soy-reduction, green onion. MMMMM

I've actually been meaning to get into the SDR type stuff for a long time. It's been something I've wanted to do for quite a while. But I really would like to know about some accessible ones. And yeah, I know this feed is really old. This post is very not new. But it seems people are still replying to it. So hopefully, maybe I'll hear something about this. I don't know.
