Here i wanna talk about midi arangemends, what programs do you use, what soundfonts do you recommend, soundfont downloads and so on. I also want to talk about video game midi's extracting because that's one of the things i like to doo.

I have Quick Windows Sequencer. In conjunction with that I use Virtual MIDI Synthesizer from Coolsoft. The sound font, given to me by my younger brother, is SGM-V2.01.sf2.

I don't do MIDI arrangements as I'm not that well versed in MIDI, but my MIDI files, the ones I've been lucky enough to find or have been given, sound great for the most part. As you know, not all sound fonts work well with all MIDI files.

And a little question, could someone arrange pokemon SS midis for me and send them to me as .ogg format? would appreciate.

I mess with MIDI in QWS and use the OPL3EMU MIDI driver as my synth.

#7

Well, I actually use the same as Charles does, which, indeed, was a real surprise for me when I read that post just now.

#8

Wow! Way cool, smiles! I had sort of wondered what you use, small world, he he.

As a phone freak i listen to ringtones. Most old phones (allso known as Java-Phones because J2ME to run software written in Java and especialy for mobile phones) used midi format for ringtones. So in the web you allso can find some of the phones synth as a soundfont.

Currently i.m using a soundfont wich includes the Syts from the MT625 by MediaTek.
The MT6250 is a chipset for low-cost-phones wich allso includes a midi synthesizer. You can download the soundfont at:

In the attachments you ind the nokia tune played with this soundfont.

I have noticed, that QWS couldn't read for me files and folders in the listview of open and save dialogue in My Windows 10.

QWS needs some serious tweeking in windows 10 because its not spacificly ment for it.

Ever since I got the latest Windows, 2004, Virtual MIDI synth stopped working for me, so I've sadly uninstalled it. I have a copy of the sound font I used to use, but I deleted it off my hard drive. I reverted QWS to use the GS wavetable. I also deleted the MIDI folder, still have it backed up, but no use for all that nonsense any more.

For me, it always says the midi driver's not installed correctly, so I always have to repair it, but it works when that's done.

#18

When I repaired it, a dialog says it has been repaired, then says to restart the program. When I do that the first dialog comes up again saying it isn't installed correctly, blah blah blah.

Well for me, when i repaired it, I can just open QWS and the ports show up and are working. I don't literally restart the program, just use it at this point.

Wish that worked for me but it disappeared from QWS, so I just gave up on it. I hope he updates it soon to work with Windows 2004.
