hi guys. here we can talk about golactic outlands, which is in early beta. but its still fun. its a space theemed game. it is like a space mud but its all an audiogame. it is not a clone either. its in beta, so things are stillbeing added, and its not oficially out yet. but the public beta is available from thefollowing link. https://techtales.com.br/go.html

another thing, this is developed by edson meranda. it was in development in private beta for 6 months but he was ready to release the first public beta to us

nope, there are 15 players online. its a public beta. edson told me to share it where ever

I'm wondering how they are online when it's stuck checking for updates, and then freezing for good.

I spent like an hour updatingthis stuff and it refuses to work, it freezesupon opening. Don't really recommend this game to anyone who actually wants to play.
Edit: also the updater is a genius. First it updates the game, 15 MB. Okay. Then it finds a sound update which is like 500 MB but all that 500 MB is already downloaded with the game itself. Sigh. Why can't wedownload only new sounds? I already see this program was written by an IT genius.

just run updater.exe as an admin, that's wht the dev says

Yawn. Arcitc, if it's working for Aiden and at least 14 other people, then there must be a problem on your end. That's not an attack, that's just how it goes. Sometimes software may not work as well on a given system because of the configuration thereof, and it may not necessarily be the fault of the programme. Like he said, it's a beta, so all these things are meant to be addressed. Also, how do you suggest it download the most recent sounds only in a secure, clean way?

It's very sad seeing you popping up in every thread like this to either be negative or start making baseless claims.

there is a event going on, the update last night added rankings for people who killed the most enamy ships. who ever is in the top 3 gets credits, a lot of them acctually. you have until the end of the wek. i'm still learning how to play, so I need to learn how to fight enamy ships.
he has also added rules to the game which is good, and added a few other miner things

Okay, so let's clarify what was happening. And it's very surprising, the problem wasn't on my end.
When I started up the game, it didn't launch for a very long time. Then it checked for updates and when it finally found the new version, the game froze and after a while, closed itself.
So I decided to run the updater in admin as it has been said in this topic, but it didn't even launch. So I went the other way, started the go.exe again and it checked for updates, again. But, of course, after checking and finding the new version, it froze and closed itself.
If I was quick enough, I could immediately press alt f4 on the exe, so it asked if I want to close the program or wait. If I waited, sometimes, but like 2 out of 10 times, it started updating. When it finally downloaded the new version... Magic, there's yet another version!
Yes, we are still messing around with the updater and we haven't played even for a minute. I saw that the date of modification didn't change so I was sure about the fact that the game didn't update anything, so... Go.exe... Let's go updating.
After waiting half an hour for my good luck and finally being able to update this thing, it said there's a sound update. This is the same update I was talking about earlier, when it downloads the whole archive of sounds instead of downloading only the new ones. Their server is slow, so I waited again until it downloads the archive. And then... It finally started up! Yeah, in your dreams. There's yet another version available!
After messing with it yet half an hour, yes, it really launched. I even tried to play but either I'm not used to audiogames anymore, or what we need to do is not really obvious, I don't know. At this point though, I suffered more with the updater and launching the game than actually playing. Hello stw sounds though.

I like that game. I downloaded it yesterday, Edson typed about it on a group and he gave the link. And it isn't a clone, that's good. I don't know, but I didn't have that problems with the updater.exe. When I opened it as an admin it opened, downloaded all things correctly and in a pretty short time and I was able to play. Maybe that was something with your internet.

If I was at home, I'd say yeah, maybe you are right, because I have problems with my internet there. In dormitory though, everything is fine and I have over 600 mbps speed.

yeah I am excited for the future of this thing. and the more updates the better. I personally dont have any issues with the updater, but your not alone, there are others wo have issues too, edson is working on it. its a beta, you cant expect everything to be bug free

Interesting so far. I'd like to see some additions to the combat system somehow, but it's nice for what it is.
