its that for standered the power level of old cards in the format is higher then the new stuf, it should be better come next year with rotation, but I am a wild player wild has had no new decks really sense last year and they have done little as it comes to paches so I had quit in hopes to come back to a new wild metta.
Sorry, but you are ridiculous. -- (patricus): ok, maybe not p2w but like, the devs try to suck your wallet dry, you pay for premium, then buy premium maps, just no. + it's boring.
Play mw then wine about that again which, btw, is not true. Most of people are lazy asses that don't even get done a building. Sorry to be harsh but that's the truth. -- (patricus): ok, maybe not p2w but like, the devs try to suck your wallet dry, you pay for premium, then buy premium maps, just no. + it's boring.
I don't feel like I wasted money to be honest. When the game was accessible, I enjoyed it and it gave me several hours of fun. Now it's barely playable and we cannot do anything. The most important thing is that noone can take away the fun we experienced back then. I feel sorry only for the modders, I'd have given that money to them instead of Blizzard.
-- (marchoffmann): Ps: I'm glad I never subscribed to classic tbh. This is the thing. Mods arn't garanteed to last, so blasting money into these games isn't to smart of an idea imho.
Regarding SBYW, of course it's not innocent either if it comes to bugs or ridiculous solutions. The map descriptions, or at least the ones in the main area, are written in the nae field, which means, every time you want to see where someone is, you have to listen to a long description instead of the map's name. It's also very frustrating because when you are walking around, you don't always want to listen to a fully detailed description, that's for what B is. It's a very bad practice. When you mess up, it's public, so if you mess up a lot, it gets very, very spammy after a while. It also gives a chance for other players to laugh at you, or if not, then an admin will surely come on your map and, quote unquote, show you how it's done, little bro. Also it's literally written in the message of the day that the game is shutting down in 2026, seeing this, I don't know why anyone would spend any more money.
@49, I'm confused. You can press M to report only the map you're on and you can also set your location to private so it'll only show the map you're on. And no, we don't just look at your zone and appear to people unless they ask for help or something. As for online stuff, I'm curious too. There doesn't seem to be much interesting stuff on offer for now, but there are some stuff in the pipeline, I should hope. Camlorn's thing as well as Kirandur.
You personally don't, but your moderators do, experienced it. M doesn't help if the map's name is its description.
Camlorn's thing is... Don't even know what word to use to explain it. A joke? Yeah, maybe that'll be the best one. For such a model he's planning to do, he needs community. If enough people gather together, it'll be nothing more but a piramid game, which I'm not fond of. I'm going to give it a chance nevertheless, but I have no high hopes.
Marc, honestly, I have no idea, and that's why I can't give a proper answer. I always knew it'll eventually end. But following this philosophy, our life also ends at some point, so why even try anything?
Except for the fact that now we already know for sure that SBYW is shutting down. They don't give any excuses, nothing. It is, shutting, down, period. When modders started working on WOW, we, of course knew that at some point they'll burn out, but we never know when. Maybe someone will take it over. Maybe someone will work on it further. On SBYW, noone is going to work and they made it clear. The payment system is still active though and if you have no idea about the situation, you'll still mindlessly purchase anything and everything you want. The same thing happened with STW and to be honest Sam's reputation horribly fell in my eyes. Not that it matters, but I don't think I was alone with that.

If you have no idea about the situation you haven't opened the game, as it's literally in the MOTD that greats you before even creating any account or anything. Also who says SBYW can't eventually be continued by someone else/sold/whatever? Yes ok, it is a special situation with SBYW, I'm aware and understand that, but it's still a longer while. Why shouldn't the devs still get some money from it? They still run the server, which costs money. -- (ArcticMoon): Except for the fact that now we already know for sure that SBYW is shutting down. @52, I am still very confused. Moderators can't even move to private maps. I'm trying to understand what you're saying but you phrased your post very confusingly.
Full disclosure: I'm an admin of SBYW. I have been for nearly 7 years, and I have quit once or twice. not permanently, obviously. I have my fair share of complaints with the game. But the most recent ones have no merit. First: The game has a one time payment of 12 credits. This is equal to 12 USD. With this paid account, you gain access to custom online and offline sounds, lower prices at the shop, where you can buy items that will make you run faster or jump higher, I'll get to those in a minute, a hook, and an item contributors can use for greater convenience on their own maps. To be clear, you can buy those items even if you are not a paid player, they will just cost more coins. You also get the ability to build passages and URL sources and ambiences, and maybe a few other things I'm forgetting. Now, you may see those items and think wait, isn't that pretty pay to win? No, because anyone can disable any of these items on any map they create, and a lot of them do, so in a lot of cases these items are moot. You might then be saying, what if I can't afford that? That's fine. I've been known to sponsor people who want paid accounts. It's not nothing, but it's low enough in my native currency that I don't mind helping somebody out from time to time, and we've also been known, as a team, to give out credits a time or two. Or ten. After that, the only two things that cost credits are advertisements, which nobody uses and I'm almost certain we've actually taken down, and premium maps, which mostly add the ability to change jump heights and walking speeds, as well as hardland damage. These cost 1 credit, so one USD. And if you're not a big time builder, this will not affect you. Now does that sound like P2W or greed to you? The next thing I'm going to address here is the zones business. This is purely a matter of subjectivity. If you don't like long zones, don't read them. I am the main culprit of this, I know. I have many maps there with very wordy zones. But if you wanna know what map you're on, just press the letter M. It won't read the zone, it'll just read the map name for you. Easy peasy, I don't like cheesy. If you guys don't like the game, that's fine. There are a few reasons not to. If you don't like building, if you don't like writing, really either one is a reason why you'd not want to play something like this. But don't treat the game like it's some terrible, horrible, no good, very bad place full of greedy mustache twirling businessmen. This game is not lucrative. AT ALL. And if you don't want to pay money for it because it's going down in 7 ish months, again, fair enough. But what I'm seeing in this thread is just you subjectively disliking the game, which is fine, or full on misinformation. Which is not.
Also, I reread a few of the posts and got some clarity. Is your complaint that the map is not simply called what it is? That, again, is subjectivity. I view each map like a book. You want a book to have a good title, right? Sure I could name it "MedievalFantasyMapNumber1," but does that inspire curiosity? Would you read a book called "Romantic Fantasy With Elves And Faeries Number 6 in the Romantic Fantasy With Dwarves Elves And Faeries series written by Author From Washington State?"
In fact I opened the game and exactly from there I got this information. It's a bit phishy, because the site doesn't even give you any updates about the situation, first you must download the whole thing to figure it out. That's a vaste of roughly 4 GB of storage loss if you decide that in this stage you don't need it.
