I use Winamp on Windows 10 and it works fine as well. In case any of you dislike both VlC and Winamp, you can also try foobar. I reckon it requires a bit of setting customisation, but then it should do its job.
I'd prefer Winamp but I can't use it any more. It takes a good four minutes or so to open a file or stop playing, or for any other function of it. I've tried uninstalling and doing a complete registry clean and such, even tried rolling back to an older version full of bloatware. Nothing helped.
VLC Media is okay, though I still miss Winamp. I can no longer play a folder on shuffle. Winamp would remember the shuffle setting but VLC won't.
