I use VLC Media Player on Windows and Mac and it works fine.

I use Winamp on Windows 10 and it works fine as well. In case any of you dislike both VlC and Winamp, you can also try foobar. I reckon it requires a bit of setting customisation, but then it should do its job.

I'd prefer Winamp but I can't use it any more. It takes a good four minutes or so to open a file or stop playing, or for any other function of it. I've tried uninstalling and doing a complete registry clean and such, even tried rolling back to an older version full of bloatware. Nothing helped.

VLC Media is okay, though I still miss Winamp. I can no longer play a folder on shuffle. Winamp would remember the shuffle setting but VLC won't.

Ah ok. I don't use that so yeah. VLC's ok for my needs.

Different strokes for different folks indeed.

Lol I know what nvda-addons are!
What does vlc addon actually improve?
--Cytat (railwayguy):
The VLC Add On is a script which you install into the NVDA screen reader.

You can access controls in the main window by tabbing. It also announces volume changes and time when scrolling.
