I recently got Reaper set up on my computer, had it on my old laptop before that fucked up on me, but I'm wondering what soundfont plugins are accessible, MadGamer told me about Bassmidi VSTI but I can't figure out how to use that.
to use bass midi, you first need to load it on a track. then, go into the fx window by pressing F, then tab till you hear "Soundfont/Bassmidi Setup button." press NVDA+enter, then tab till you hear "File button." a open box will come up on yor screen. find your soundfont like you would normaly do. after pressing on the open button, tab to the checkbox then press enter. it should load the soundfont. you can go to the midi keybord to hear the pianos, or tab to be able to change the instrument. but I don't really like this plugin mutch, because it crashes alot.
If that is to complicated for you you can install virtual midi synth and put soundfont files in it. It works sort of like GS wavetable synth, so instead of fittling with baseMidi and weird unlabeled shit you can create a reaper track, press i to change the routing of the track, tab until you see this thing, - MIDI Hardware Output - combo box collapsed and change it to virtual midi synth, then add reacontrolmidi as an effect to the track and find this in the effect settings window Bank/Program Select grouping and enable the checkbox. Hit load file and find gm.reabank. Change the to general midi, without numbers, then fittle with the program combo box which contains all the soundfonts instruments to your liking. Its a little more laggy than base midi though and tbh I just realized that this is actually more complicated than that lol
