I think the underlying question of this would be does Elten support UNC paths? WSL is via the \\wsl$\distro UNC path. If it also supports following shortcuts (.lnk) to folders, you could try making a shortcut to your distro and see if it can get to it that way? This would also apply for local network shares, E.G. NAS.
