Important problem! Threats reappearing

So since yesterday I keep getting notifications of windows defender that threats are found, surely every 1 or 2 hours or when I open my pc. It often says no results on the scans, but then I often have this here. Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.H!mlSevere6/10/2023 11:46 PM collapsed 1 of 1
When I press start actions it just says feel free to bla bla bla, and after a while it's just the same thing. And I have no idea from what this is coming, seriously.

No file paths in the defender history? It is a trojan, but it is hard to guess where it comes from without more details. Check your installed software for unexpected entries, also the browser addons list. Maybe some kind of malicious chrome extension.

Or it could be a false positive from a game programmed in BGT. I just got it for Challenge of the Horse yesterday. I managed to restore it but my wife couldn't get that done, so she can't play Coth any more.

hmm not sure how to find out that stuff though. And I don't install crome addons or whatever things like that so hm.

yo mark, go to windows security, virus and thret protection, tab a few times until you get to protection history, and brows the list their. tha's where windows defender/offender will display the offending items list

Wacatac, i heared about it few times and i thing that's not false positive. Reinstall windows and remove all exe and dll files.

Re install windows? Lmfao no thanks, I don't feel like data loss /sitting there days to recover everything. Also it appears to have went away.

it would be easier to buy a new computer instead of finding every exe and dll, deleting them and then reinstalling windows. lol. but nice that the problem is fixed now, so you don't have to do that xd.

It was in Challenge of the Horse, and I restored the file 'cause I like the game. It works just fine, even though Defender says it's a Trojan.

Finding what DLL or exe on Windows is causing an issue is harder than it's worth sometimes. Seriously Windows should go down the package manager route already for its core components. On Linux if that happened and you knew the package name, just look at the package files, nuke nuke, problem solved.

Meh, I'm not sure where it came from but those people must either be stupid or complete assholes for having this shit in.. Guess if it was from some game then they probs have gotten infected shit on their pc. But again it could've been from anywhere. And no way for formating. I have important data and sounds on here which I can't backup then.

Get 2 flashdrives. One to back up your files and another to reformat your computer. It's really not that hard to do or lengthy. It holds your hand through the process

I've heard of malware that can inject stuff into UEFI directly. If you reformat and you still have stuff popping up on a fresh install, it might be time to get a new motherboard or something.
