NVDA working on wine

UI in general is bad. Copy your current elten config from your windows machine or VM to the prefix in appdata and launch it. Ensure that before running setup you have urlmon, vcrun 2010 to 2015 redistributables installed, and wininet.

No, Lists are generally read, but not when wine replaces msaa with it's builtin version.

If you get msaa via winetricks it works better than when you don't have it. At least then it detects edit fields when they're read only which riched20 and riched30 mess with.

does this work under macos as well?

I'm not sure, I personally haven't tested it. It probably should work, but then again it's Mac and things can go wrong in this area very easily where Mac OS is involved.

Sounds interesting, but will NVDA be able to connect to BRLTTY so that you don't have to rely on speech?

I'd be more interested if it can work with Eltin. Having Eltin on Linux would be nice.

I'm using Elten with an NVDA portable copy right now. There's a thread in the elten forum about me trying and eventually succeeding, all be it with sapi. If you use NVDA right off the bat you probably won't have half the issues I had. And no, NVDA will not be bridging brltty any time soon.

Oh that's sad, so when you say you use Elten with a portable NVDA copy, how do you read your messages then? Sorry for asking, but I just don't get it.

You need to set the WINEPREFIX variable to the prefix that has elten in it, which for me is ~/eltenpref. Then, you run your nVDA portable copy and then launch Elten. It'll then speak through nVDA. If you installed elten and all the stuff it needs in the default prefix, you won't need to do this, but Elten works best in a 32 bit prefix so I recommend you set one of those up.
