A lightwait operating system with low memory and storage requirements. Something like a successor of Symbian OS. Runs on phones with a keypad but it should also run on touchscreen devices. The guy in the video that I am gonna post below, was reading out some information about the built-in screen reader on its settings screen, and he read out some tips about touching the screen to hear the item under one's finger and double-tapping to activate the selected item etc. And I read myself that it did run on keypad phones so it should be flexible enough. Learned about this OS yesterday and wanted to post about it. It reminded me of those old days with Symbian devices. And now Nokia is still one of the manufacturers making devices running KaiOS. Its screen reader also reminded me of TALKS&ZOOMS. It uses the SvoxPico synthesizer for English. I don't know about the other languages though. So anyone wanting a second backup phone or a device to reminisce about the Symbian age while taking advantage of a modern web browser with HTML 5 support, support for modern celular connection (4G/LTE etc.) and widely used apps like WhatsApp and Youtube, can get a KaiOS device.
So here's that short video showing how to enable the screen reader:

Oh dear, I hope you can get different voices for it, because I really don't like SVox piko. Well, as someone who loves TTS, I like to keep it around but I prefer to work with something different.

I AM A PHONE COLECTOR AND HAVE A HANDFULL OF KY os DEVICES SUCH AS THE ALKATEL GO FLIP, AND NO, YOU CANT GET ANY OTHER VOICES, YOU ARE STUCK WITH svOX PIKO

I want one
Trussville roll: Deep-fried, smoked salmon, crab salad, cream cheese, topped with mango sauce, sweet soy-reduction, green onion. MMMMM

Well piko is at least more ok than espeak in my opinion. Its more or less a very bad version of the svox voices in vocalizer. I think for german it could be a bad petra and for american english, it could be close to a really really bad ava.

Which should mean that this screen reader can be used conveniently, and probably supports, a handful of languages. How many languages does the OS itself support?

--Hang on a minute? I thought it used Eloquence by default?

Um, why did you just quote that? The reply feature is used to, in fact, reply to someone. Anyways I should get into that, sounds interesting. Not that I'd ever buy that and if there's nothing other than piko, well rip.

She did answered him?

O bleh. Broh answering below a quoted message is not supposed to be, it literally puts you on top. So i saw it as an empty answer as I didn't even go down below those posts.

If anyone has a kai os phone, can you describe how to turn on the screen reader? Could you send me a demo recording? I'm very curious, and maybe I'll check on my grandfather's phone to see if there's a screen reader.
I don't know what to do here

I believe it is as simple as holding down the left soft key, so the key below send.
