* From now on, Elten supports the native system tray, without the Elten_tray process which caused numerous problems.
* Elten got its own dedicated opus encoder now used in recordings.
* For each section of the program there is a maximum allowable bitrate, higher than the default one. For blogs it is 128kbps, for forums 96kbps, and for messages 64kbps, while the program defaults to 48kbps for messages and forums and 64kbps for blogs. This can be changed before recording.

Generally, the larger the frame, the better the quality. But you should be warned that elten stable may have some problems with reading files with a frame over 60ms, so by default this size is used. Codec tests on this will be grateful, because the same code that is now used in audio resources will be used for voice calls.

My speech loss problem is still alive and well and I still get the financial information message every time.

Every time I exit Elten, exit, not hide it in the system tray, I get an Elten button in the system tray anyhow, and I have to hit enter on each one to get rid of them. They multiply, so I have to remember to go to the system tray every time and get rid of the button there. Sounds like a pretty pesky bug.

I've also noticed that the first button in my system tray, Skype in this case, isn't labeled any more. This happened when I installed this Elten beta.

Could you please describe your speech loss problem again? I don't quite understand that. As for your other bugs, yes, the financial message still comes up every time. As for the icon in the tray remaining when Elten exited, that only happened once to me. I tried it a few times, and it only did it the first time. Now with this native tray thing, Elten always has an icon even if it's not minimized. This didn't happen with the old way. What I shall do next is test the audio coding. Should we test different bitrates too?

#6 Edited

O and it didn't unlabel the first icon like it did to charles. I even tried to run skype and see if it's unlabeled but that's not the case. Perhaps it is because he's using Skype 8 while I'm using the built in windows 10 app? I won't bother installing skype 8.

#8

First off, the Skype button didn't get masked this time, after a computer restart. The Elten button is still present and multiplies when I leave Elten.

I lose speech on the first post of these beta threads, when it gets to the Dropbox link, and the add-on, when I restart Elten, is no longer recognized, so I have to reinstall it even though it's there already. There is also another post my speechcrashes on in the computers and technology forum. All this I've already documented.
Strange, Troubled Times...

#9

Ok, I definitely don't have the speech loss problem.

#10

No one except me I suppose, has this problem.
Strange, Troubled Times...

#11

It's definitely not Eloquence that's causing the problem. If I switch to any voice in NVDA I lose speech and have to jump through all the hoops, reinstalling the add-on and such. I don't know i'ome sort of hidden character causing this or just what, very annoying!

#12

Yep, that's what I eliminated too. I tried it with the IBM TTS driver before you posted this.

#13

@@thespyde
Could you paste NVDA log generated just after speech loss occurs? That is, when only NVDA fails to speak in Elten, please press NVDA+F1 and paste the log here, into a post.
Thanks in advance.

Shoot for the Moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

#14

Concerning your Elten icon, if you don't want it there, you have to uncheck it in the Elten settings menu under general.

#15

It is unchecked and I still get it in the system tray.

I have no idea if the log presented is the one requested. There's no way I can do it right when the speech loss occurs.
Strange, Troubled Times...

#18 Edited

@ thespyde: What? Is this suggesting that your sleep mode's broken? @ Railwayguy: There's no such checkbox. It's if Elten should be automatically minimized to the tray when you go away from it, but not to disable the icon. It's always there.

#19

Lord if I know, bro.

The icon behavior seems to be random. I just logged out and the icon wasn't there this time. It is there most of the time though.
