I think if you call humanware, you can still buy the battery for the apex. I had one of those once. It was loanded to me after we had a major roof leek, and my braillenote mpower ended up taking a shower.

#22

it took a shower?

The braillenote was sitting on my nightstan. We'd gotten a lot of rain the day before. The roof had a major leek, and the water happened to totally drench my braillenote. It still worked for a while after that, but ended up having problems with the braille display.

ouchee. you really need a touch pluss then

I wish I could get a touch plus, but sadly, I don't think that will be happening any time in the near future.

#26

hmm, question about old keysoft. not the android one. can you actually run 16bit e x e's on there?

I remember using keysoft 4 on a braillenote classic back in high school. If memory serves, you can't run any files made for windows on keyslft because it would cause seriou damage to the system thacan't be fixed.

#28

well keysoft can now run applications. and pluss, why is there kndemo.exe

Hi,
I have a question: I'm looking for a note taker, something along the lines of the old braille lite millennium series. Are there any note takers that are simalarr to that?

Hi!
OMG, I am also a "happy" user of elBraille, and OMG, it would be better if I could simply have a 40 cells braille display. For example focus of 4 or 5 generation.
ElBraille is sooo laggy, so I disconnected it's display and use it with iPhone or PC.
14 cells is extrimely few for anything.

So, just because I am curious, do you use a Braille Notetaker? If so, which one and why? I happen to
have two, a BrailleNote Touch from Humanware, and an ElBraille from VFO, the company that owns Freedom
Scientific. I like the BrailleNote Touch best, because it is a bit quicker when it comes to word processing.
When I am in a class, I need to be able to get a blank document up quickly, and I can do that quite a
bit quicker on the touch.

I don't have $2,695.00. the el braille is very expensive.

while we're on the topic of braillenote's and braille displays in general, i've always wanted an older humanware braillenote, like the braillenote mPower or the classic. i've always liked the keynote gold TTS engine and thought it was a very interesting voice. also, i currently use a braille sence6 at school but would love to get my hands on one for personal use.
Until I figgure out what to put here for real, this is what you will see.

#34

I plan on getting the orbit speak, which is by Orbit Research, and it's going back to the old days of speech based note takers from the 90s, with enter and backspace keys this time. It's going to be released in October, and will have a price of $500.

what voice will it have?
