Starting Over

Dear Elten Members,
I must admit, I am not entirely sure where to begin, as the matter is both lengthy and complicated. As most of you are aware, this group has, sadly, turned into something of a dumping ground. Over the past year, the administration has changed several times, often stepping down in days, and the moderation, especially last months, was - put mildly - chaotic. After much deliberation about what to do, we have decided to start afresh.
All previous threads have been moved into a temporary group under the name English Community Archive. What will ultimately become of them remains undecided.
Most of you also know that, amidst all the disorder here, a group called Reformed Elten English was founded by Sir-Charlie. Unlike the main group, that community proved stable, and discussions there took place in the way a proper forum ought to function - rather than descending into a playground quarrel. For that reason, I have appointed Sir-Charlie as administrator of this group. From what he has said, he intends to bring over threads from Reformed Elten English.
For now, this group will remain empty. I promise this is only temporary - hopefully a matter of hours - and soon new content and forums will begin to appear.
Allow me also to address two important points.
1. The fate of the existing threads
Frankly, I do not yet know what we shall do with them. By the end of the old community, the amount of rubbish, insults and trolling was so overwhelming that the majority of content had lost all value. At the same time, there are older threads that remain genuinely worthwhile, and it would be a shame to lose them. I believe the new administration, in consultation with the members, will decide how to handle this.
2. The Elten Development group
The idea behind this was to separate general community discussions from those specifically about this program. This approach has worked extremely well in the Polish community. Here, however, it does not seem to have been successful - many discussions about Elten ended up in this group, often mixed into unrelated threads. Once again, I cannot yet say what we shall do; this is a matter to be discussed with the administration.
I apologise for speaking so vaguely and leaving so much unresolved. Normally, I would prefer to wait and present clear solutions. However, given both the state of this group and my limited availability from tomorrow onwards, I felt it necessary to act swiftly.
Finally, I would like to make one more point. I fully agree that the previous moderation became anarchic and poorly organised. Still, I appeal to all of you for understanding. The community they had to manage was an exceptionally difficult one. Although I was not very active here, from what I observed I did not see any malicious behaviour from the moderators themselves - only a lack of experience in handling such a complex situation. They therefore deserve respect, not disdain.
One last note: I have noticed a surge of multi-accounts. This has become another nuisance. I banned one user who went far beyond acceptable limits, but I also saw many otherwise sensible members creating multi accounts. I will not take action against them this time, as I understand how chaotic everything had become. From now on, however, this will not be tolerated, and I trust that together with Sir-Charlie we shall firmly put an end to such practices.
Please, let us behave as adults.
Thank you all very much, and I truly hope that things will only improve from here.
Best regards,
Dawid Pieper

Great, now this forum can be completely dead and lame like the rest of elten.

dude, he said there is an archive. Get that through your head. Anyways, I do have to admit, yes, maybe I reacted durring those, ahem, dumping ground moments, but all hope at least for now is not lost. Yet. But some people have also stated sircharly wouldn't be the best admin, but I'm not on any sides hear. As for how the mod team will function, that we don't know yet either. Also, like I've stated in the 3-for-all forum, how is elten useless if there were so many people from 2018 (when it became somewhat popular, and then more users coming in about 2022-23?) And if you feel it is really that useless, all you can do is just archive and leave. Its that simple.

Hey.
Good decision.
I stopped reading English community few months ago due to nonsense posts, spam and childish behaviour from a lot of users.
Thanks.
I hope that, from now on things can go well.

I also hope it gets better. Personally, I wouldn't have suggested SirCharlie as the candidate to run things, due to past behaviors from him, but I hope he can actually prove himself and actually do a good job without screwing it up.
My other concern is that Manny Alvarez has managed to get his way into this group, and the reason for his ouster was very clear, his conduct towards minors has been called into question, I should not need to explain here, there's posts about it in the English Community archive thing. Not just that, its widely known.

Ngl you have no room to talk. I doubt it can get any worse than in the phase you administrated this mess. What passt behaviors of his that were bad in the slightest proove you by the way? I can't find anything from a neutral perspective.

Ps: It's saddening how you lash out at everyone for the simplest forms of critisism, just point to the door, and act like you're superior while the normal folks all have some sort of issue which is the magical reason they don't get along with you and your administration. You didn't even try, to listen to a point or ask further questions, even to make us think you care a little.

But you've had your fair share of past mistakes no?

No, I don't lash out, I just say things in what may seem a blunt way, but all I do is state the facts, and some people instead of instigating more crap, they should just leave it alone, but apparently nope, and people just wanna say that I lash out and do this, that and the third. OK then, despite Pajper even saying that I wasn't doing things in a really bad way, just that things got so out of hand it was extremely difficult for the administration to keep up with the onslaut of rubbish people were filling the forums with, and then when Rambo started making tons of accounts trying to impersonate me, naturally the only thing I could do at that point was delete those posts before things got even worse.

I was refering to stuff SirCharlie was doing in the forums like a few months ago, maybe the end of last year or whatever, but either way, I just hope he actually succeeds in making things better, rather than a repeat of before.
