what is up everybody derek merced here it's it's been a little while since i last recorded um actually it's been a long while but you know it's okay uh college and the like have been keeping me busy college and the like uh high school is the like um anyways so i as you can see by the post the question is uh is anyone concerned about their future um why or why not i feel like this question more um applies to younger people and i could be totally wrong adults i'm sorry if i like offended you in any way uh technically i'm an adult because like now i'm officially 18 but i still feel kind of young uh so i mean i guess we could debate on that like endlessly but regardless um for me in regards to my future i so like i'm the type to where i always have like a plan right and this plan can um either be really good or it can have uh like certain things that i haven't figured out yet and so i'm kind of just like flying by the edge of my seat uh for lack of a better expression and i'm just like going with the flow and seeing kind of like what happens um so like my my dream job what i wanted to do once i finished up high school you know graduated with a few college classes behind my belt was find a college near me um finish up my associates and then go into voice acting either that or find online work uh my teacher had like said stuff about like upwork and like fiverr and so like i basically got those apps filled out my information and uh and uh set up my profile and like just searched for voice acting jobs um but you know you obviously have to kind of know what you're getting into and i just i don't know like what it was about the application process or whatever like for certain jobs or whatever but i always just felt kind of stuck or like there was something i wouldn't understand and so i kind of gave up um in in terms of some of those like mini side hustle jobs for voice acting and so i just was kind of stuck and so i was like okay well how do i you know because i i felt like i was jumping the good and so i tried to like you know like dumb it down for myself a little bit and was like okay well maybe if i if i can't find any voice acting opportunities now maybe at the very least i can find classes or like someone to like you know help me like with my skills um suffice it to say there wasn't really much luck uh a lot of my friends don't really have that interest uh some of them either like music stuff a lot or technology stuff which you'd figure would go hand in hand with technology with technology with voice acting because right like technology you know encompasses things that are like both auditory visually like coding stuff i don't know i just figured they would go hand in hand and then music actually i guess that one kind of makes a little more sense but regardless so like i i kind of just got stuck right and so then my dorm staff really cool guy he was like well derrick uh because because basically by this point like i was like something that happened with my family and i like i was like okay well uh i really want to help them you know pay for like medical expenses um even if they don't need my help it's better for them to have the extra money than for them to not right and so i had like taken the liberty to be like okay well maybe i don't want to go to college right away maybe i want to start working um and after a lot of like arguing back and forth my dorm staff because my dorm staff was like under the impression well like you're young like you're young you're young you're young you're young you're taking college classes now why don't you continue and i was like yeah but at the same time i want to help out my family he was like you could do both i was like that's a lot of stress and so eventually he relented and he presented me with this opportunity which is uh essentially talking to my dbs counselor because i'm located in florida and um asking them about the blind enterprise program and getting set up with uh the the vending machines and stuff like that or like a snack bar like operating one of those those food service uh thingies uh sorry that that sounded very professional but like you know what i mean right just like one of those little micro markets uh a little like self-employment thing that i could manage and so i was like all for it and i still am all for it but uh part of me is like really worried like what if what if i'm not cut out for it then what's my backup plan and like what if i just don't have the qualifications because there's like a couple tests you have to take and stuff you know the typical like self-confidence things that you worry about uh which is weird for me because like normally when it comes to my college classes like in writing essays and stuff like that it's like i don't think about things like that i just kind of do the work turn it in and you know all is right in the world and but then if i don't or then like at times like the this one i'm just kind of waiting for a response because like right now i i emailed my dbs counselor to basically schedule a meeting to talk about all this and so i'm just kind of waiting with bated breath to see what she says uh but yeah that's that's kind of where i stand right now so i know that was kind of all over the place but hopefully that gives you an idea of like how your future plans can like be one thing and then just completely like flip on its access and just like go out the window like i literally wanted to be a voice actor now potentially if this goes through and like if i can you know uh learn enough in time i could be managing my own uh my own business which sounds really sick but also kind of terrifying but they did say i'd have a business advisor so that kind of alleviates a bit of the stress that i feel but yeah anyways just circling back to the question has anyone else struggled with this or has it been easier for you guys are you or some of you guys just like dude why is this kid struggling so much with his future like it's not not it's not that deep or um am I am I am I right for feeling like this right because I feel like I don't know I feel like you can you can see it in both ways either you know what you want to do you're set you're good and nothing in your mind is going to change that plan or you're like me and you're just like switching up every however often you switch up I don't know like I literally even hear that uh switching up futures is to the point where somebody will be taking a college class or a bunch of college classes rather don't know exactly what kind of field they want to get into and then they literally change their major like if that doesn't tell you that you don't know what you want to do I don't I don't really know what does but um anyways that that's it for me I just wanted to know uh everyone else's opinion and yeah
