hi guys, I have a windows vps from dsh (dein server host (dsh.gg)) and I think it's really cool. but it had yesterday a power failure, ugh.

#2

I have also a windows vps from a german provider called contabo, but they also offer them in other countrys: contabo.com, pretty cool.
not sure about the CPU but 8GB of Ram, and 200gb storage.

#3

herd contabo's network is shit

#4

na, it isn't. got really better and better over the last months! I never had problems!

My web server is located at german company Keyweb, another one for TeamTalk and other services is from Netcup, both servers running Debian. Netcup pretends an uplink speed of 2,5 GBit/s, and according to speedtest-cli this is indeed the case.

yeah debian is grate, it use's very little resources so you can have a nuf to host your stuff. and its very small and not bloted

#7

Yeah, and depending on what should be hosted you even don't need a management GUI such as Plesk or CPanel. I'm administrating my Netcup machine completely over SSH.

cpanel is just bloted anyways and can be full of holes if you dont do it right

#9

so can plesk but not as much because it has les services, nginx or apache is just better anyways

okay, here are the specifikations of my machine at deinserverhost:
C P U : intel(r) core i 3, 12100
ram: 32 gb ddr4
disk 1 : 512 gb ssd
Disk 2: 1 tb ssd

#11

how much are you paying for that thing?

#12

$12 USD/Month 2 Core Linode. Almost 10 GBPS down and 2 GBPS upload. Sometimes more. Running Debian solidly for almost a year. I also have a Dell Desktop, Optiplex 9020 with an I7 4770, 32 GB ram, 1 TB SSD that runs Proxmox.

is that a minny pc? how much did you pay for that. thinking about getting something so I can run a server at home

#14

running servers at home sucks, really.

#15

I just want to run some local stuff on the network, I will keep the vps for stuff I want to run to the out cide world

If you're doing it wrong, it will suck. But if you know what you're doing, it's almost better than using a cloud server.

The Dell is a small desktop. I wouldn't buy it now, I've had it for a few years now. I think I paid $200 to buy it used.

um what? with 32 gb ram and 1 tb ssd? wow, that's really cheap!

#19

is that really an issue though? I mean the only thing I plan to do with it is install linux on it and run some stuff on my network
