Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Stringed Instruments thread. I created this thread because I've recently acquired a new ukulele among other instruments that I've already previously possessed. And I've been messing around with said ukulele. And have found some tunings that do some fun things to the style of music it can produce. And yeah, I've found two in particular which I'll showcase in this introduction here thingy. The first one is a very simple tuning. It's just high G, low G, which is kind of falling out of tune because it wants to tune itself back up to C. High G, low G, high G, high G. And obviously, this is very rigged. So it's not exactly the most in-tune ukulele ever, but it'll work. And what this is supposed to do, and what I've mainly used it for, is playing or like threading on one string, mainly the A string. And what it does is it creates a drone effect with all the other strings. So it sounds really cool when you do something like. I've transitioned over to the C string at this point. Wait, hold up. Anyway, this next, or the next tuning shall be shown in a second here. This next one's a bit more conventional. This is the result of a thing I tested when I tuned the ukulele to G-flat, B, E-flat, A-flat. Which is it's actually standard. It's a standard Hawaiian tuning. And I was tuning the thing back up to normal generic ukulele tuning. And the E string had still not been tuned and it came out with this sound. So I was like, what can I do with this? So I tuned A up to B-flat, kept the first two strings of their generic tuning, which is. . So now we have. again, very ghetto. So hold on. That should be better for what it's worth. And again, another kind of traditional sounding thing. Another kind of traditional sounding thing. . Okay. . Oh, oh, oh, oh. Okay. I think I need to change it a little bit here. I think I need to change it. I think I need to start with. Okay. Okay, good. Okay. Anyway, again, very ghetto, not exactly the most in tune thing ever.

Alright now, open tunings. This brings me onto something. I've got a classical guitar here, which I actually, oh, that's a really beautiful open string, which is a G. So, the fret, the first fret on the G string, G sharp as it is. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . piano plays softly with these tunings it's very easy to sound professional although i'm really not a professional guitarist by any means but this is open tunings are fun and i love to explore so this is another one that i also know from him and on an eighth string this is even better because you've got a low c and the low f this is the lowest string but there's a c and an f that it goes even lower in this tuning on an eighth string which is so so glorious and yeah but this is also pretty nice so right i think i better stop because my five minutes is probably going to be over soon so yeah but just to show you what i do with a classical guitar when i pick it up right see you later maybe

Sir, I would just like to inform you that that guitar is the most beautiful representation of a seventh chord that I've ever heard and I enjoyed that very much. Thank you for that.

And so I figured I would post this in the stringed instruments thread too, because why the heck not. This is an Irish bouzouki. And I already did a little demonstration of this in the other thread, in the music thread, general music, blah blah blah. But I just wanted to touch up a bit on the fact that this is tuned D, uh, sorry, A, B, A, B. The original tuning is G, C, A, D, I think, or G, C, D, G, C, something, something, something to that effect. But you can make the most awesome chords out of the most awesome chord shapes with this, like for example. And it can lead you to do fun little improvisational things like. So alternative tunings are definitely fun.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another alternative tuning for yet another standard musical instrument. Well, I don't know if it's exactly standard here in the US, but I know it is standard in some parts of the Middle East. This here in my hands is one of my newer acquisitions. It is a Turkish long-necked balama or tzaz, depending on what side of that whole big argument I could get into year on. Yeah, this alt tuning that I've set up for myself is an open tuning and it's not exactly too far off from the main tuning, and if you hear creaking that is people moving around upstairs, living in a basement is so awesome, anyway, the alt tuning that I've set up for myself as previously stated isn't open, I've set it asieteering. I've actually set it up where it's spot-p glitch Drag andlear to is an open Bb, and it goes as follows. Two Bb's, two F's, three Bb's. If it's not totally in tune, I was screwing around with some other actually standard tunings a few minutes ago to teach myself how to operate those, and I apologize if it's not totally in tune. Friction tuners aren't exactly the easiest things to work with. But yeah, all that aside, I have it in open tuning as it's like default tuning as of right now because I want to practice with it, and I don't want to put too much pressure, as previously stated. This is one of my newer instruments that I've gotten, so yeah, I'm still learning it. And also, if... I start stuttering a lot, my brain is kind of having issues at the current moment. I'm struggling with language abilities, just as expressed right there. God! Um, okay, so we're gonna get through this post as fast as we can, but um, two things that I find actually positively awesome about this instrument. One, the pick. I've actually got one with me here, the Plectrum, is kind of awesome in the sense that it's a softer plastic and it makes an awesome resonating noise when you strike it on the strings. And two, because of the pear shape, it makes awesome harmonics, if I can find them. It makes awesome harmonics. Also, the sound hole is at the bottom, just as kind of a side note.

Well, hello there to this quite old thread. So, one of my favorite tunings is called micro-tuning and it's really famous and popular among Arabic people, Turkish, Persian, and yeah. So, my piano has a feature where you can tune the whole piano and also you can choose the scale. And there's only seven scales and one of them is Arabic and I'm going to show it off here with you. But yeah, I will record it from my phone. And yeah, sorry, excuse my, excuse the quality. It'll be quite, well. A little bit. So yeah, in the next post.

hello um uh yuki if i'm not mistaken on how your name is pronounced um i'm actually well aware of microtones microtones are very very cool i am actually um some of my favorite music is actually middle eastern stuff that has microtones inside of it but um yeah let me know what brand that keyboard is because i might be interested in buying it if you can of course and of course you can also showcase the thing when you get down to it sorry about that i don't know what that was uh so yeah
