I did, several times, and finally resorted to Pontes Media Downloader.

Oh, I understand what you mean. I just play the stuff. I haven’t tried downloading in a long time, because like you’ve all said it takes ages to download. The videos that is.

#23

A lot of times when I just play something it buffers like crazy.

Yes, I’ve been getting that a lot, the buffering that is. I asumed it had something to do with my internet connection.

#25

All I can say is: thank goodness for Pontes Media Downloader.

Having said that, Pontes Media Downloader has been crawling lately when downloading, anywhere from 68 to 72KBPS. We have fiber optic Internet, not dial-up, lol.

Oh I understand. I’m using a 3g dongle, or however you spell it. Unfortunately fiber isn’t available in my area, otherwise I would’ve taken that option.

#28

You spelled it right by the way, dongle.

It doesn't matter what your internet speed is, youtube is still mostly unuseable. In fact, since the latest update, I'd say its completely broken.

#30

I agree most definitely.

I hope youtube will get a little bit faster in the future.

#32

Me too. About a year ago, there were absolutely no problems untill the latest update.

Well, no. The problems started when Google implemented whatever new protocol that broke youtube-dl. That's when the Elten developer had to make YouTube an external program to keep up with the ever-changing incompatibilities introduced every few weeks or so.

@tespyde wrong. In this case 2 particular things happened. First elten used to use the official youtube api for the search task. At some point google introduced a quota system to this official api. Youtube dl was not at all influenced by that, it was just the search mechanissm. The developer then chose another solution but for some reason i don't get also replaced youtube-dl, allthough that would still work, with a new library which i cant the hell figure out what it mait be, probably a elten custom thing. So you may wonder why dont rollback to youtube-dl? Well thing is, youtube-dl died in the meantime. The devs have kepd silent for over 4 months now leading to ytdl beeing unusable almost. This is also the reason for the problem that you mentioned with pmd, since it uses youtube-dl and youtube has this thing where it detects you use it it slows your connection down dramatically. How ever a good fork off youtube-dl is growing called youtube-dlp. It uses exactly the same syntax but is still geting maintained and adleast in the 2 programs i use it in works out well. You can also use it in your pontes media downloader by geting the newest release version and replacing the youtube-dl.exe through the new one renaming it to youtube-dl.exe.

Sounds too geeky for me to do. And, I know all this, just didn't know how to say it just right.
