what do you think of Clubhouse?

Hi guys. So I was wondering what you guys think of the clubhouse app for iOS? For my part, I like it. I don't like having to give your phone number to get access or being forced to use your real name. I have nothing to hide, but those 2 things in combination could be a goldmine for would-be identity thieves. Other than that, I find it fun to use and great for meeting people. My only real issue is the amount of delay with the audio. They encourage singing/performing, but if a band needed to meet there to perform together, it would be impossible. There is a noticeable delay when things like that happen, so it could never work.

I have too much similar apps, I even don't want to test it, because I use whatsapp, telegram, elten and so on, really, enough :D
But some people are very excited about this app.

Hi, we're Clubhouse. Please give us your telephone number, your real name and access to your contacts so you can enjoy all this amazing service has to offer. Oh, and don't forget that When you allow us access to your contacts, we will constantly upload them to our China-hosted servers so we can trace, uh, I mean notify other contacts that you've joined the service. We have your phone number now, remember, so we can do whatever the heck we want with it! Want to delete your account? No problem! Just contact us with a deletion request that we may, or may not, respond to. We hope you enjoy this awesome service and we look forward to (not) hearing your feedback. Sincerely, Spyhouse.

The spyhouse thing. It was just a bit of comedy.

Off topic, but yes it is since it's in all her posts on this thread.

Well some of us have never heard of Clubhouse. You made it sound like you are the one who developed clubhouse. If you would have put something like "Just kidding," then it would have been more obvious.

Not sure here, it was pretty obvious to me that the post was meant to be ironic. But it's true that I've already heard of Clubhouse myself. Personally I'm not so concerned about the app gaining access to my privacy, I mean specifically this one. On the other hand, I've recently come across an article which states that Clubhouse deals with security issues. Just like Balteam, I'm not yet among people who are super excited about this thing, mainly because I had problems running it on my old iPhone SE. :D and in general I tend to avoid the big trends or hesitate with them a bit. Still though, I hope I'll get to test it soon, I've witnessed some nice conversations already thanks to my friends who use it. And by the way, the idea itself is quite interesting to me, or rather the fact that such kind of app where voice is the only way of communication has gained interest and popularity among sighted people. So in fact, this ain't really a bad trend at all. :)

I registered because one of my friends who knew my number invited me. Well, it's pretty okay, although there aren't many talks that make me feel hiped, and the conversation made by blinds are usually not my kind of stuff.

It's unusual compared to most of the stuff I've used before, I'll say that much. I am really concerned where my privacy is possibly in jeopardy after my laptop got hacked and erased once.

My main concern is that a certain person in my family gets wind of how popular Clubhouse has become, decides to join and sees me on there. It's the primary reason why I'm not on WatsApp (this person is on there) or any other service that requires a phone number and/or access to contacts.

Yeah, I'm glad mine aren't there either. I get enough trash talk and abuse from some of them in person.

Hi all.
In my opinion, clubhouse is a great salution for me to practice my Spanish and of course to sing
.
There are lots of clubs for language learners, I even visited some Polish rooms for Polish learners.
