Skype 8 has a very serious issue. If somebody adds you as a contact, there is a chance that you won't get any notificationn that they added you. I have left feedback about this issue again and again. The only way to know if somebody added you to their contacts is if they send you a chat so you can accept the contact request. The same if you add somebody to your contacts, send them a chat so they know you added them.
I've also noticed that the Skype icon doesn't appear in the system tray when the computer starts as it used to. It does, however, come up when a chat comes in.
Ah, so you seem to have the same problem where you can't control skype when you come back to it from another window. I wonder if that's an NVDA problem or a skype problem. but I can't do anything to help you there. I'm suffering from it too.
The one built into Windows stopped updating for me so I switched to the electron version. I haven't seen any issues like I've seen here. I haven't added or removed contacts in awhile. I used to have to close and reopen the Skype window every time I deleted a contact, but I don't know if that issue is still hanging around, or how many people had it in the first place.
I have the same thing, it just says skype when going back to it. To fix this, press alt to get to one of the menus and press escape and you should be able to interact as normal.
