Well, Skype has changed for the better. The audio test finally works for me. There are so many changes I got rid of a file I was sharing called How New Skype Looks and Some Notes About It. The interface is totally different with some sluggish things, such as when I go to contacts, I have to press enter on all, change it to Skype and press enter again to select Skype contacts. I wish this setting would be remembered. Hopefully, in a future update, this will be addressed.
I'm thinking maybe Microsoft is unifying the two versions of Skype they still have.
Over all, this new version is much easier to use and more customizable.
I might add that this Skype update occurred when I got a feature update to Windows. I don't know if this update is done when that feature update isn't shown on a system for whatever reason.
Some people find Skype 8 more accessible, but I won't ever know about that one as I can't get it. I'm used to the one for Windows 10 anyway, so all is good. This one is definitely getting better. They seem to listen to feedback and that's also very good.
It is probably more like Skype 8 than it is like Skype 7, which will soon be discontinued if Microsoft keeps its word this time, Skype 7 or Classic that is.
I tried the classic skype, and it didn't work for me. Don't know why. At the moment, don't feel the need to use skype. I'm using windows 8, so guess skype is out for the moment.
Yep, strange as it did here. Now, in the newest Win 10 version, messages read automatically but the only way to get a message repeated is to shift tab to find the messages list. Oh well.
It is just great to hear somebody say positive things about Skype. I've been hearing a lot of negative things about Skype lately, and about Windows in general.
I was one of those nay-sayers for awhile, especially when stuff that should work didn't, but with this new feature update it's definitely coming into its own again. I'm a loyal Skype user.
The developers really listen to feedback and regard it as very important.
While I do like the settings app, I do often use control pannel over it. For nstance, how do you change tts settings in the win10 app? But I dout that I'll miss control panel much anyway.
In my shared files, I have put up my stuff about the new Skype, (UWP for Windows 10), for anyone interested. This is version fourteen-something, so if you have an earlier version, say twelve-something, then don't bother getting this, unless you want to know what's down the road for ya, smiles.
A recent update made me rewrite my file, the one I referred to in my previous post. It's up now in my shared files. Annoying, but this is how it is in the ever-changing world of technology.
