Does anyone use the new Skype app for Windows 10 or the electron version for earlier versions of Windows, the ones supported of course? If so, please feel free to post here.

What I'm looking for, mainly, are pointers to do everyday Skype things such as, like, answering calls. I don't seem to be getting notifications of that kind of event and I have made sure to have notifications turned on, for all apps actually.

Any other pointers are definitely welcome.

Have tried the classic version that came out. It hasn't worked for me.

I can use the classic one just fine, but the win 10 app, at least what I mentioned in my first post, still baffles me. I will continue using the classic for as long as Microsoft lets it work.

Ah, I'm using windows 8. And for some reason NVDA doesn't read any messages from skype. So, I can't read chat messages or even what I type. Not sure why.

I'm not sure why either as NVDA provides lots of stuff, who goes online or offline, and the messages in the chat window. If you need a message repeated, then control insert 1, number row, reads the most recent, 2, then next most, and so on.

I receive immediate feedback both when I send and receive messages so I can't imagine why you're having that issue.

I agree, that is strange.

That Skype functionality has been in NVDA for quite some time. It does appear to work with the new Skype, at least as well. At least I get messages read to me immediately in that app. The message list is readily accessible, so I haven't tried the control insert number row keys to see if that works as well.

I use both the desktop or classic one, and the new one, though it's functionality, for me, is limited. I still can't answer calls. I can make both audio and video calls but no answering for me.

Lately I noticed on Skype for Windows 10, NVDA will not tell you if a person is on of offline when going through the contact list. I played with that version of Skype a little bit but most of the time, I use Classic Skype.

I use classic too, most of the time. The reporting of offline/online status would be nice in Skype for Windows 10 or the electron version for that matter.

It always amazes me when an app takes such a huge leap backward in accessibility.

I once tried to change my skype password. It's not that easy like it used to be. When you reset it, there is a caption feature. I managed to get through that then I had to type in the hidden part of my e-mail address. It's quite confusing.

I was actually able to do that, but yeah, I know what you mean.

How did you manage that? I mean where you have to type in the part of your hidden e-mail address.

Gosh, it was quite awhile back, and I think there's a clear edit box. I also think I just typed the whole thing in, but as I said, that was quite awhile back.

Another thing I have noticed, and sorry if I'm repeating myself, but deleting conversations in the new Skype is extremely clunky. They took that ability away from Skype classic quite awhile back, but, anyway, to delete conversations I find I have to delete one, close Skype, reopen, and repeat till they're all gone.

Ah, good, I didn't repeat myself, he he.
